Aunt Jemima and You Smell like a Grandpa

-- We were at Grannie Annie's house enjoying breakfast of pancakes and eggs when Ian looked at the bottle of syrup and declared that Grannie Annie looks like Aunt Jemima!

-- Ian and Daron were playing outside - lots of baseball all day. They came in at night to take showers. They sat next to each other on the floor and Daron sniffed Ian and said "Pew! You smell like a Grandpa!"

-- Ian took robotics - which was awsome. Daron took photography - and one of my all time favorite pictures of him now is the one of him with a camer around his neck.

-- Rory is a perfect tom boy. She wants to be cool and not pretty or beautiful. When she got dressed for shabbos - I put a little white sweater above her dress. She took one look in the mirror and said "no! this is pretty. it's not cool"

-- One recent shabbos. I did what I normally do and checked in with the boys to make sure they still don't like girls. This time Ian revealed he thinks girls like the boys already and that he thinks Lexi likes him.

--Ian also told me, with smirks, that there is a Hebrew English dictioary in school that has bad words. Which words? Words like "shut up".

Mom, do you have a phone?

We hit Disney this winter vacation. Amazing. Totally amazing.

Like usual, I put stickers on the backs of the kids- "If found, please call - with our phone numbers.)

We were sitting on the couch in the main room of the suite and Ian said very casually "Mom, do you have a phone?"

"Yes, why"

"This says, 'if found please call..."

Sort of had to be there but it was very, very funny.

Dorothy now sings "Dig, Down Deep" and Matisyahu's latest song One Day and Lady Gaga.

Albert Einstein as a leogs diorama --sort of bringing albert down to size

Dorothy making up every excuse under the sun as to why she couldn't go to
sleep-- including -- homework

Ian's question about the parsha - how did avimelech konw that they were not brother and sister just because they were playing together

We play truth or dare with the kids- mike doing push ups me running laps after dessert. Daron asked - what do i like better, my children or shabbat

Dorothy insisting on wearing her piggy custome for purim

Straightening the book shelves-- there is a column in there somewhere-- D spent a good bit of time looking through the books as he was putting them in order. I loved hearing him talk about books

I wish upon a star for a piggy....

Took Dorothy to her first movie today- the Princess and the Frog. She was pretty good and the best part was that she sat on my lap almost the entire time and snuggled right into me. We had a good time. the boys went to Alvin and the Chipmunks.

When we asked her what the best part was she said "when the two froggies kissed" and then tonight when I was putting her to bed, she ran over to her window and said "I want to wish upon a star" - she found the neighbor's lamppost and said "I wish for a piggy".

Last week Ian was talking about names - and asked if you can change your name. We explained that when you are an adult you can or when you get married. He said that he didnt want to change his name when he gets married because when he is playing baseball - he wants them to say "Welfeld" - and thinks it would be weird if they say "Ratner". Mike and I managed poker faces... for a few hours.

Daron is still having tight tush problems, but we are working on it with PT and OT. I made him an ortho appt on Tuesday too. They are all enjoyihng the Wii (I refuse to learn even how to turn it on - not sure what bothers me more- the fact that we have the Wii or that my refusal to participate feels so much like my mother)

Been too long

Since I posted. Some quick updates:

Ian is home with me today. He has strep and I am enjoying it. I dont have meetings today. He came with me to have my blood drawn and now I am working while he watches a movie with me on the couch. It is just so perfect that I keep holding back from telling him we will have to have a play hooky day once a month.

Daron scored three goals in soccer yesterday. Supposedly all the kids were hugging and cheering him on. I wasnt there:( Ian scored a goal yesterday too. Was a good day for the end of the soccer season.

Rory is a spitfire. She is all personality. She makes us laugh every day yet she snuggles. Sometimes she gives the teachers a hard time - when she wants something or doesnt want something - that's all there is to it. She went to the dentist yesterday too- wasnt having it but once she was out of the purple chair she was all cool and cocky.

Recently Daron did something I was not happy with. When I asked why he told me "My brain made me do it."

My Brain Made Me Do It

When Daron does something we get upset about or doesnt do something we ask him to do, he tells me that it wasn't him... his brain made him do it.

According to Daron, ear wax doesnt taste so good...

Apparently it seems he learned that gum is made of bee's wax and thought he'd see what his own wax tastes like. Yuck!

Rory takes her pigs everywhere she goes. She has a small one now.

Ian's coach calls him Road Runner cause hes so speedy. He;s doing ok with school. We've been talking about the power of positive thinking:)
