Literal Rory

Carpool - she was desparetly trying to figure out why I didnt bring her bathing suit for carpool.

We did a makeup class for her dance class because of the holidays. She was determined not to go because she did not want to wear makeup.

Today in the bath, she was playing with two plastic little dolls. They were talking about how deep the water was and she said something about ankles. I was only half paying attention. Then she asked me - "Mommy what is it called?" pointing to the bath- she said "ocean, no not ocean" "Bath" I said? "No, no," "Pool?" I offered.

"Yes, pool." She went back to her playing. The Mommy doll told the other - "Three ankles, its three ankles deep."

Oops- wrong body part- ankle replaced foot. That's funny to me. Funny enough that I did not correct her.

California Girl

Dorothy raises her hand and Bailey and Car point to her as someone who is leaving the next day.

She walks up to the stage with her two side pigtails. One flower color in each.

"What is your name?"
"Dorothy"
"I love that name."
"How old are you?"
"3 1/2"
"Where do you live?"
"California"

We burst out laughing so hard and couldnt stop. Mike's mom said she actually peed in her pants she laughed so hard.

She then went on to sing the ABCs perfectly and it was a true proud moment. She was a shaking and her heart was beating fast when she sat back down on lap, tears of adrenaline in her eyes. I told her it was just a joke she told about the California. And I am still laughing.

Car Shopping

Car Shopping

We took all of the kids minivan shopping on the day after hilton head - piling them in and out of vans at various car dealers. For some reason part of my test was how well the sales guys could deal with the kids. Toyota rocked it with a great sales man who began by shaking the kids hands. Maybe that's why Sienna seems to be winning out.

We were trying to teach the kids the finer points of negotiation. It didnt work so well when they raved about a car to the dealer but they did find it interesting.

Hairball

One day Rory was coughing. She cleared her throat and said "I have a hairball"

Reading

After the NeverEnding story, we read the incredible Hugo Cabret. Now we are into The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. One of my favorite parts of the week is when we read together.

Spending Time Together

What does it say about us that when I took Dorothy to the ENT with bulging ear drums and an infection - she looked up at me as we got off the elevator and held my hand and said "we are spending time to-gether"

She has taken to saying "Thank you... for Nothing" and "Sorry ... for Nothing" at just the right times to be perfectly adorable. And to make her brothers a little proud of having taught her that trick.

Recently Daron came over to me at a Shabbat lunch to say he was bored. Dorothy followed shortly after to say "I'm boring". She liked the laugh she got so now she frequently tells me "I'm boring of this" which cracks me up each time.

Dorothy and Daron were doing a puzzle with Grannie Annie. Daron got a peice in. Dorothy exclaimed "Great Job D"

To which he corrected her - his name is not "D" - he said it is "Daron"

The boys are in Camp Shalom again this summer. I hate the Wii and the computer. I like my boys behavior far better without either. I should go on record with that.
